Kate Middleton and Prince William had their divorce already, according to a royal expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been married for seven years already. Just recently, they’ve become more tactile like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. According to royal expert Jennie Bond in the documentary “When Kate Met William: A Tale Of Two Lives,” their marriage works because they get divorced earlier in their relationship.

“A really good thing is they’ve already had their divorce, which in royal circles is a terribly wise thing to do,” Bond said.

Bond was referring to Prince William and Middleton’s split in 2007. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went their separate ways. They reconciled after a few months. Bond believes that another factor in their successful relationship is their friendship.

“The brilliant thing about the relationship between Kate and William is that it’s founded on friendship, and that is a sound basis for any marriage,” she added.

Prince William and Middleton met at St. Andrews University. They were friends before they started dating. In fact, Middleton helped the second-in-line to the throne from a personal disaster when Prince William planned to quit school.

In Katie Nicholl’s book “The Making of a Royal Romance,” Prince William reportedly got bored and didn’t enjoy his time at the university that he didn’t want to return school after his first semester there.

Prince Philip told him to “knuckle down and not wimp out.” On the other hand, Prince Charles was sympathetic to his son. As for Middleton, she convinced Prince William to stay and just change his course if he didn’t like it.

The Duke of Cambridge listened to Middleton and swapped Art History for Geography. After which he earned a second-class honors degree. Many considered Middleton as Prince William’s savior for doing so because if he didn’t change his mind, some would consider him a quitter.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge previously addressed their breakup during their engagement interview. According to Prince William, they parted ways because they were still too young at the time and were still figuring out what they wanted in their lives.

On the other hand, Middleton admitted that she was unhappy about it. She added that their split made her stronger.
