Kate Middleton had a great relationship with Prince Harry’s ex Chelsy Davy before Meghan Markle.

According to Katie Nicholl in her 2017 book “Harry: Life Loss, and Love,” Queen Elizabeth II met both the Duchess of Cambridge and Davy at Peter Phillips’ wedding in 2008. It was their first official meeting with Her Majesty.

Both were eager to make a good impression to the Queen, and so Middleton and Davy worked together to be at their best.

“Chelsy and Kate stuck together like glue,” Nicholl wrote. “It was the first time either had navigated such an important social occasion, and they were keen to make a good impression, particularly in the presence of the Queen.”

The royal biographer added that Davy got along more easily with Middleton’s younger sister Pippa. However, the two made an effort to be friends because of their long-term and serious romances with Prince William and Prince Harry.

The royal biographer added that just like Markle, Davy was “fundamentally different” from Middleton.

“Kate was sensible, careful, and conservative when it came to how she dressed and behaved,” Nicholl added.

On the other hand, Chelsy was more of a free spirit who “threw caution to the wind.“ Also, Davy really loved Prince Harry. However, his royal status was more of a drawback to her than an advantage.

Back in 2016, Davy told the Times that it was “crazy and scary and uncomfortable” to be with a member of the royal family, pertaining to her relationship with the Duke of Sussex. She also added that she found it really “difficult” when things were bad because she was trying to be a normal kid and the unwanted attention from the press was “horrible.”

Prince Harry and Davy dated on and off for years. In fact, she’s the longest relationship Prince Harry had to date. When things fell apart, the two tried to save their relationship.

Nicholl revealed that in 2015, the exes gave their romance another chance as they were hoping for a reconciliation, so they traveled to Africa. However, they didn’t rekindle their romance because Davy didn’t like the royal life.
