Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress Hinted At Queen Status; Meghan Markle Copied It?

Kate Middleton’s wedding dress reportedly had a secret message that hinted at her status as the future queen.

Emily Hodgkin, a journalist for Express, claimed that the Duchess of Cambridge made a clever nod to her role as the future queen of England during her April 29, 2011 wedding to Prince William at Westminster Abbey.

At the time, Middleton’s pricey wedding gown was adorned with stunning lace details to represent all four countries of the United Kingdom. The lace effect was inspired by the Limerick and Carrickmacross laces of Ireland.

Roses and shamrocks were spotted on the bodice of Middleton’s dress. Roses symbolize England, while shamrocks symbolize Ireland. Experts also said that the gown featured lace daffodils and thistles, which represented Wales and Scotland, respectively.

But several years ago, Markle seemed to have copied Middleton’s style but she made hers even more elaborate than the Duchess of Cambridge. On May 19, 2018, the Duchess of Sussex had her veil decorated with the 53 flowers from all over the Commonwealth.

These included white orchids from the Gambia, jasmine from Pakistan, kowhai from New Zealand, heilala from Tonga, and more.

But even though Markle tried to leave a mark with her wedding dress, it seems that royal fans still thought that Middleton’s gown was much nicer. In fact, several experts also said that Markle’s wedding gown didn’t fit her perfectly.

In related news, the “Suits” alum also made headlines this week after it was reported that she might start second-guessing her decision to wed Prince Harry when they reach their second anniversary. The royal couple will be celebrating their first wedding anniversary next month.

Royal correspondent Helen Kirwan Taylor said in the documentary “Meghan Markle: The First 100 Days” that in the beginning, Markle would’ve thought that things were exciting because marrying into the royal family was new to her.

“In two years’ time when she is being rolled out to some godforsaken dark wet city in freezing conditions, I think she is going to wonder why she agreed to this,” she said.
