Less than 24 hours after “Star Trek: Discovery” star Anthony Rapp accused “House of Cards" actor/producer Kevin Spacey of making sexual advances toward him in 1986, the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences stripped Spacey of an imminent honor.

Oscar winner Spacey will no longer receive the 2017 International Emmy Founders Award, the academy announced through its official Twitter account Monday.

It was first announced in June that Spacey would be honored with the award for being "one of the great multi-dimensional talents" who "crosses cultural boundaries to touch humanity", Deadline reported. Spacey was supposed to be awarded Nov. 20 at the 45th International Emmy Awards Gala in New York City.

A replacement honoree has not been announced by the academy and even Spacey has not issued a statement on the matter.

Another development occurred Monday as Netflix announced Spacey’s show “House of Cards” will go off the air after its sixth season. According to Hollywood Reporter, the decision of ending the show was reportedly made over the summer but Netflix’s announcement came following Spacey’s apology after Rapp accused him of making sexual advances toward him.

Rapp, who was 14 years old when the alleged incident happened, claimed Spacey was trying to seduce him in New York when the two had roles in the Broadway revival “Long Day’s Journey Into Night" and "Precious Sons.”

Rapp shared his story with the world during an interview with Buzzfeed, which was released on Sunday, and said it was important for him to address the issues at this point.

He said, “Not to simply air a grievance, but to try to shine another light on the decades of behavior that have been allowed to continue because of many people, including myself, being silent. … I'm feeling really awake to the moment that we're living in, and I'm hopeful that this can make a difference.”

In response to the allegations, Spacey issued a statement on his official Twitter account saying he was beyond horrified to hear Rapp’s story. He also confessed to not remembering the alleged incident that would've taken place almost 30 years ago, had it happened. Spacey specified in his statement he has immense respect for Rapp and apologized. He also referred to the alleged incident as possibly "inappropriate drunken behavior" on his part.

Spacey wrote Rapp’s story encouraged him to address other things in his life.

"I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man,” his statement read.

Spacey’s apology was widely criticized on social media platforms, by his fans, his peers including Rose McGowan, Wanda Sykes, Billy Eichner as well as organizations like GLAAD, a U.S. nongovernmental media monitoring organization founded by LGBT community, who denounced his decision to address his sexuality in middle of these allegations.

Actor Zachary Quinto called Spacey coming out a "calculated manipulation" to divert attention from Rapp's account.
