KEY POINTS

  • Khloe Kardashian announced via Twitter Friday that she and True are now in quarantine
  • Kardashian also tested positive for COVID-19 in March last year
  • The reality star has since gotten vaccinated, which means she contracted a breakthrough case

Khloé Kardashian and her 3-year-old daughter, True Thompson, have tested positive for COVID-19.

The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" alum, 37, took to Twitter Friday to announce that she and True are now in quarantine.

"Hi guys, I wanted to let you know True and I tested positive for [COVID-19]," Kardashian tweeted. "I've had to cancel several commitments, and I'm sorry I won't be able to make those happen. Luckily I have been vaccinated so all will be OK. We will be over here in quarantine and following current guidelines."

Fans flocked to Kardashian's tweet to wish her and True a speedy recovery and to send them their love, support and prayers.

"I’m praying for complete healing for you and your adorable daughter True," one wrote.

"Praying for you both to get better soon," another added with red heart emoji.

Kardashian, who shares True with Tristan Thompson, previously tested positive for COVID-19 in March last year, with the diagnosis and the family's reaction unfolding on their reality show.

Kardashian opened up about her bout with coronavirus during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres in October 2020, recalling that learning about her diagnosis had been "incredibly scary."

"I mean, it still is scary, but especially then when the whole world was shutting down and we didn't have really any information or the information we had changed every single day," she explained.

Kardashian added that the "most heart-wrenching thing" about her battle with the virus was being apart from her then-2-year-old daughter as she quarantined in her room for weeks.

Last month, Kardashian shared more details about her bout with the disease during a Twitter Space chat. She revealed that while she didn't lose her sense of taste and smell, she "had everything else — like anything else you can imagine."

The Good American co-founder also shared that she struggled with hair loss when she suffered COVID-19.

As Kardashian has gotten the vaccine, her second COVID-19 diagnosis is a breakthrough case, which is an infection that occurs in people who have been fully vaccinated against the virus.

Breakthrough cases are not unusual, as no vaccine is 100% effective in preventing infections. However, vaccinated people who contract the virus are more likely to be asymptomatic or experience a far milder illness than if they were not vaccinated, People noted.

As of Friday, 45.8 million COVID-19 cases and 745,075 deaths have been recorded in the U.S., according to government data cited by the New York Times.
