  • Seven ground keepers filed a lawsuit against Kim Kardashian
  • They are accusing the star of being late with pay and refusing to pay overtime wages
  • Kardashian said she is not responsible for the payment of her employees
  • According to her, she already paid the vendor, which is supposed to pay the staff

Kim Kardashian has taken offense to the accusation that she treated her former maintenance staff badly and did not pay them on time. The reality star addressed the allegation Wednesday via Instagram.

The mom of four clarified that she was not the one responsible for the payments of her employees. "Absolutely, I respect people for their time and their hard work and unfortunately these workers are suing the wrong person," Kardashian said in one of her Instagram stories. "I paid the vendor, and it's their job to pay their staff. I hope that they are able to get this resolved soon."

Earlier this week, a total of seven ground keepers came forward and filed a lawsuit against Kardashian in Los Angeles. According to the complainants, the daughter of Kris Jenner was late with their pay, withheld 10% of their waves for taxes but failed to forward it to the government, refused to pay them overtime wages and sometimes forced them to work without meal breaks.

A 16-year-old former worker also claimed that he had been made to work beyond the 48 allowable hours for an underage summer employee. Another ex-staff said he had been fired immediately after bringing up the meal breaks, tax issues and overtime pay.

Sources close to Kardashian quickly defended the beauty mogul. "Kim has never not paid a vendor for their services and hopes that the issue between these workers and the vendor who hired them can be amicably resolved soon," an unnamed source told Page Six.

"She does not have a history of not paying her bills on time — never has and never will. She takes a lot of pride in paying people on time for their work so this issue has nothing to do with her and these workers are suing the wrong person," another tipster said.

The labor issues emerged months after Kardashian and her husband, Kanye West, filed for divorce. In both of their filings in February, the couple agreed that their marriage should end over irreconcilable differences.

Kardashian and West also agreed that they do not need spousal support. The pair has four children – North, Chicago, Saint and Psalm.
