Reality star Kim Kardashian has never hidden her long-drawn battle with the skin disease, psoriasis. On Sunday, she took to Twitter desperately reaching out to her social media followers for possible remedies to the disease.

“I think the time has come I start a medication for psoriasis. I’ve never seen it like this before and I can’t even cover it at this point. It’s taken over my body. Has anyone tried a medication for psoriasis & what kind works best? Need help ASAP!!!” she tweeted.

A number of loyal fans of the “Keeping Up With The Kardashian” star jumped to the occasion, offering a range of medical as well as dietary solutions to the inflammatory disease.

“Heres some stuff to try Kim. Stop eating dairy&meat. 100% Stop spray tanning and use only natural products. Derived from mother earth only. Detox ur body from chemicals and animal products for 6 months and then decide if u still need to take medication. Your skin will thank you!!” wrote one user.

Another user commented: “I’m currently using HUMIRA, it’s a bioloqic injection I take every two weeks. This was my last resort because nothing else worked before. I was on ointments and methotrexate before I started using this but it cleared up my skin 90 percent.”

Here are some more reactions to her post:

According to Centers for Disease Control and Protection (CDC), “Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune skin disease that speeds up the growth cycle of skin cells.” It causes red and silvery patches of skin to form on one’s elbows, knees, scalp, lower back, face, palms, and soles of feet, and other parts of the body.

However, CDC recommends anyone suffering from the disease to seek professional help before trying out any specific treatments. There is a range of creams and ointments aimed to stop the progress of the disease as well as ultraviolet light therapy to drugs (such as methotrexate) to treat psoriasis.

In a post on her app in June, Kardashian revealed she had been suffering from the disease since 2010 and it was something that had been passed onto her from her mother, Kris Jenner, at birth. “The disease is something I have learned to live with but there are still times when I can feel insecure about it — especially on red carpets or at a photo shoot,” she wrote.

“It can be so frustrating, searching for a treatment that actually works. One of the treatments that has really helped me is the Clarify Medical Home Phototherapy System,” she added.

She explained the treatment in question was an at-home therapy that synced with one’s phone. The treatment used UVB (ultraviolet B-rays) and LED phototherapy to treat the skin and after following step-by-step instructions, it allowed allowed for evaluation of one’s progress by taking photographs.

Apart from Kardashian, other celebrities who have been known to suffer from the disease are Britney Spears, Art Gurfunkel, Dara Torres, Jon Lovitz and LeAnn Rimes.
