La La Anthony compared her 15-year-old son, Kiyan with her own father, noting that he is "protective" of her dating life.

"He's protective," La La said when she was asked about her son's reaction to her dating life on the Wednesday episode of "The Jennifer Hudson Show." "He doesn't like it. He doesn't like it at all. So, I'm just like, 'You just want your mom to be alone like, forever?' He's like, 'Kind of.'"

La La went on to explain that her son leaves her alone whenever his friends are around.

"But anytime his friends want to go out and do something, he's like, 'Alright Ma, see ya later. I'm going here,'" she said. "I'm like, 'You just leave me in a heartbeat, but you don't want me to have anybody.'"

The actress further shared that dating in presence of her son feels similar to her own father. "I'm sneaking, texting, I'm like, 'Let me call you right back,'" she joked.

The 43-year-old actress shares Kiyan with her ex-husband, professional basketball player Carmelo Anthony. La La and Carmelo got engaged in 2004 and married in 2010. They got separated in April 2017 but came back together in 2018. However, the couple eventually went their separate ways after filing for divorce in June 2021.

La La also shared that she focuses on teaching her son to be respectful and complimenting when it comes to dealing with women. The actress gave an example of herself wearing a dress for an event and her son didn't give a compliment.

"I'm like, 'Do you think mom looks nice?' He's like, 'Yeah mom, you look really nice.' I said, 'Just make sure you say that, because women like to hear compliments," she added. "Women like people to do nice things for them.'"

She continued, "So, I start with me, so he can learn from me on how to do that. Or I'll tell him, it's OK to have friends and if someone does something nice for you, acknowledge that. Let them know that you know, that was nice or that you feel special. It's OK to do that. I try to make sure he's in touch with things."

Considering La La's upcoming projects, she will be next seen in a crime drama, "The Waterboyz," helmed by director Coke Daniels, which is currently under post-production. The movie will also star Rockmond Dunbar, Omar J. Dorsey and Duane Finley.

The actress will also feature in a romantic comedy-drama, "The Perfect Find," which is helmed by director Numa Perrier.
