Fans still remember that fateful day in March 2015, when Zayn Malik announced his exit from "One Direction." Six years later, Liam Payne is poking fun at what went down behind the scenes at 1D headquarters after Malik’s exit.

On Monday, Payne found an old clip in his drafts and decided to post it, creating a frenzy among “One Direction” fans.

"POV the meeting after zayn quit," reads his on-screen caption as Payne mouths the words to viral audio of a confused man asking, "Are we absolutely sure what direction we're going?"

The “Sunshine” singer made it clear that this is all for fun as he captioned the video saying “ ___ forgot I made this a while ago hope you see the funny side”

In less than an hour, the video went viral with nearly a million likes and 9.4 million views. Various fans were having the time of their life with the clip, while some were surprised that Payne would address that moment.

"YOU WOKE UP AND CHOSE VIOLENCE," wrote one fan. "LIAM YOU DID NOT," added another. "Impeccable use of this sound," wrote a third.

Malik decided to quit the band in 2015 and has since launched his own solo career. He also welcomed his daughter Khai with model Gigi Hadid ten months ago.

Soon after Malik’s exit, “One Direction” dropped “Made In The Am” as a four-piece group, which went on to become the sixth best-selling album of 2015, selling 2.4 million copies worldwide.

Ever since going on hiatus, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Payne have openly talked about their time in the group and emphasized that there’s no bad blood between them.

Last year while talking to Variety, Styles opened up about being in the group and how everyone going their own way was the "next step in evolution."

"When you look at the history of people coming out of bands and starting solo careers, they feel this need to apologize for being in the band, 'Don't worry, everyone, that wasn't me! Now I get to do what I really want to do.' But we loved being in the band," Styles said.
