As gas prices hover near record highs, Americans planning to travel for the Fourth of July holiday can get some relief at Sheetz gas stations as the convenience store chain has reduced the cost of fuel for a limited time.

At Sheetz’ more than 640 locations, drivers can fill up for a fraction of the normal gas price, saving them significantly at the pump. The gas station retailer is offering Unleaded 88 for $3.99 a gallon and E85 for $3.49 a gallon – both well below the current national average price of $4.881 per gallon.

E85 fuel has between 51% to 83% ethanol and is not compatible with all vehicles. Sheetz recommends checking the owner’s manual of your vehicle to see if your car is E85 compatible.

Unleaded 88 fuel is approved by the EPA for use in vehicles 2001 and newer as well as light-duty trucks, SUVs, and Flex Fuel vehicles, Sheetz said.

Sheetz gas stations are offering the gas discount now through July 4 to help Americans travel over the holiday weekend. Over 42 million people are expected to hit the road over the holiday, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA).

Gas prices hit an all-time national average high on June 14, as prices reached $5.016 per gallon, AAA indicated. Prices have edged lower in recent days but the cost of gas is still a burden that Americans are faced with as they look to travel during the summer peak months.

Sheetz gas stations are located across Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, and North Carolina.
