“Real Housewives of New York City” viewers were shocked when longtime cast member, Bethenny Frankel, announced she would be leaving the show. The fans weren’t the only ones surprised about her exit, Bethenny’s co-star, Luann de Lesseps, claimed the Skinnygirl founder never informed the cast about her plans to quit the show.

In a new interview, Luann opened up about the cast’s reaction to Bethenny’s exit and shared her thoughts about the future of the Bravo reality series now that one of its main troublemakers will not appear in the new season.

Luann told PeopleTV’s Reality Check, that the “RHONY” cast wasn’t upset about Bethenny’s decision to leave the show. “We were shocked, surprised and somewhat relieved,” the 54-year-old confessed.

However, Luann revealed she was a bit disappointed that Bethenny didn’t warn them about her plan to quit. “I found out like the rest of the world that she wasn’t coming back to the show. She didn’t let any of us know,” explained.

“I thought that was kind of not very thoughtful after all of these years of working together that she would let us know before the rest of the world,” she continued.

Overall, Luann revealed that she was content with Bethenny’s decision to leave the Bravo series and confident that the show would be successful without the entrepreneur. “I was all of the above. I wish her well. We had a good run. She’s off doing her own thing,” she revealed.

“The show must go on, and it goes on very well without her,” she added.

Following Bethenny’s exit, newcomer, Leah McSweeney joined the popular reality series and is expected to serve up some drama in the new episodes.

“The Real Housewives of New York City” Season 12 premieres on Thursday, April 2 at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
