Madonna has joined hands with Bill and Melinda Gates to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The esteemed singer recently announced that she will be giving $1 million to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to help find a cure for the disease that has taken more than 69,000 lives worldwide.

Taking it to Instagram, the 61-year-old musician uploaded a video and explained that it took a good amount of time for her to know how much of a bigger threat coronavirus is. The “Hung Up” hitmaker further stated that it took a while to “modify” her lifestyle, so that she can protect the lives of the people she loves the most.

Madonna also expressed gratitude toward the people who have taken the virus seriously and are doing the best they can to save the human race.

“I must admit, it took me time to accept and process and modify my own lifestyle so I can protect the lives of my family, myself and the rest of the human race. I cannot express enough the importance of people taking this virus seriously,” Madonna said.

On the other hand, she urged her fans to donate to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundations’ Therapeutics Accelerator Program to help find a cure for the deadly disease.

The seven-time Grammy award-winning artist also issued a statement on her website where she noted why she decided to help the founder of Microsoft and his wife amid the pandemic. Madonna revealed that she is really “impressed” by the work that their foundation is doing to find “new drugs” that could “treat” the disease.

The musician concluded her statement by saying thank you to all the health workers, first responders, and scientists who are working tirelessly in such dangerous times.

“Harnessing the strength and knowledge of the research community, the Accelerator’s critical scientific progress will inform how we end this pandemic and prevent future impact from the virus. I send enormous gratitude and strength to the courageous first responders, medical professionals and scientists who are protecting our communities, those suffering and our most vulnerable ,” Madonna said.

Madonna has been sharing a lot of information about the disease for quite a while now. Last month, the acclaimed musician shared a video on IG and labeled COVID-19 as the “great equalizer.” In the video, she admitted that coronavirus has made everyone “equal” in many ways.

“That is the thing about COVID-19, it does not care about how rich you are, how famous you are, how funny you are, how smart you are, where you live, how old you are. It is the great equalizer,” Madonna said at that time.
