A man allegedly broke a glass bottle and stabbed a fellow partygoer multiple times after an argument broke out at a New Year's Eve party in Florida.

The victim was found in the street with multiple stab wounds, and eventually succumbed to injuries.

Plasido Castro Bibiano, 37, was arrested in connection with the stabbing incident that unfolded at a New Year's Eve party in Hillsborough County, KIRO 7 News reported.

Bibiano and the victim got into a heated argument at the outdoor party held at the Palm Flats apartments near the University Mall. The scuffle escalated, and led to Bibiano breaking a beer bottle and repeatedly stabbing the unidentified victim with it.

Officials responded to a report about a stabbing at around 5:15 a.m. Sunday, ABC Action News reported. Deputies found the victim with multiple stab wounds in the roadway.

Although paramedics from Hillsborough County Fire Rescue conducted CPR and administered life-saving measures to the victim, they eventually pronounced the man dead.

Bibiano was arrested and charged with Murder in the Second Degree with a Weapon, officials said.

"Suspect arrested and facing charges of Second Degree Murder after an altercation at a New Year's Eve party," the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said in a statement following the incident. "On Sunday, January 1, 2023, at approximately 5:15 a.m., deputies responded to a stabbing call in the 1500 block of University Woods Place (Palm Flats Apartments). Upon arrival, deputies located a man in the roadway with multiple stab wounds. Despite life-saving measures by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, the victim did not survive his injuries."

The sheriff's office also confirmed that an argument at the party led to the stabbing.

"Through investigative means, detectives learned the victim arrived at an outdoor New Year's Eve party with two other individuals and at some point, became involved in an altercation with the suspect, 37-year-old Plasido Castro Bibiano," the statement continued. "During the altercation, the suspect broke a beer bottle and stabbed the victim multiple times."

Sheriff Chad Chronister said the new year began on a tragic note because of the incident.

"This is not the way to start the new year," the sheriff said in the statement. "When anger turns into violence, lives can be lost, and families destroyed. This suspect is now facing serious charges."
