A 41-year-old man was arrested for allegedly walking into his mother's home and "suddenly" stabbing two people who were visiting her in Atlanta, Georgia.

DeKalb County police officers responded to reports of a person being stabbed at the 4900 block of Wilkins Station Drive in Decatur at around 2:47 p.m Sunday. Upon reaching the scene, cops located 35-year-old Ashley Hackett stabbed and 70-year-old Lavon Draine with "stab wounds to his torso" inside the house, according to WSBTV.

Both Hackett and Draine were taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. While the extent of their injuries was not specified, the two victims were expected to survive, the police confirmed

The accused, identified as Romes Biffle, also allegedly threatened his mother before leaving her house, Atlanta News First reported. The identity of the woman was not released.

After stabbing the two victims at his mother's residence, Biffle returned to his home. He was later arrested by the police from his home without incident on two charges of aggravated assault.

"Our investigation indicates 41-year-old Romes Biffle entered his mother's residence as the two victims were visiting with her. The suspect suddenly stabbed both victims and threatened his mother before leaving the location on foot," the police said, as per the outlet. "He later returned back to the residence and was arrested without incident."

It remained unclear what prompted the double stabbing. Other details regarding the incident were not revealed by the police. An investigation into the matter was underway.

In another incident reported last week, a Brooklyn man was arrested for allegedly stabbing his mother to death inside her home in New York. The accused, Gabriel Cabral, 33, visited his 54-year-old mother on Nov. 16 after returning from a hospital he had checked into for a psychiatric evaluation. As Cabral reached his mother's residence, the two got into an argument and he allegedly stabbed her several times. Police found the woman on the kitchen floor, covered in blood, with a knife under her arm.
