A 62-year-old man from Houston, Texas, brutally killed his two children by cutting their throats and called his estranged wife to tell her that he left her “presents, ” court documents released Tuesday said. Jean Pierre Ndossoka was accused of killing his children Marcel Ndossoka and 1-year-old Anna-Belle Faith Ndossoka in his apartment. He was charged with two counts of capital murder.

Ndossoka told the officers his 8-year-old son said "daddy, I'm sorry" before he proceeded to cut his throat out, while the baby girl “just kept crying.”

The court document said Ndossoka called his estranged wife, Sabine Ntongo, multiple times at work after the murder and told her that he left her a “present.” He asked her to come to his apartment in Houston to visit, and to enter the house with a key which was kept under the doormat.

Ntongo walked in to find her children lying on the bed inside the apartment on Saturday. They appeared to be stabbed to death. She called 911 and officers soon arrived at the scene. She was comforted by family members as she broke down outside the Houston home.

The police said that they found a blood stained knife and a handwritten note in French signed by Ndossoka, which was placed on the bed near the 8-year-old boy’s body.

The note, which was translated, said that Ndossoka had indented to die with the children. He was not at the scene when the police arrived. The police soon put out a description of the vehicle Ndossoka used and started the search for the suspect. He was found a day later in his car, which was parked somewhere in Pasadena, southeast of Houston. Ndossoka was alive, but had a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital soon after and was reported having high blood pressure.

The police said that initially, Ndossoka had told them that he didn’t remember anything. He eventually told them that “did something bad.” Ndossoka then admitted that he did something to his children. According to court documents, when asked what he did, he motioned toward his neck.

He first said he choked the two children, but later confessed to using a knife to cut their throats. He confirmed that the knife found at the house was the murder weapon, and also confessed to wroting the note which was found at the apartment.

Ndossoka was married to Ntongo for six years before they divorced recently. He can face death penalty for the murders if he is convicted.
