A Florida man killed his wife and shot himself in front of his two minor grandchildren after accusing her of cheating. The man had recently gifted her a luxury car which she had disliked.

The police responded to the scene late Saturday after two men approached them and informed them about the presence of two minor children inside the building. The accused had barricaded himself in the house after shooting his wife dead due to which the special response team was called.

The authorities were able to rescue both the children, aged five and nine, through the bathroom window. The officers made their way inside the house to find Shanica Harris dead and her husband, Eddie Harris, gravely wounded from a self-inflicted bullet wound. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment.

According to reports, Eddie had gifted his wife an expensive car a week prior to the incident and the latter had expressed a dislike toward the color of the vehicle in a Facebook post.

“Now he knows I love red cars!! But OMG!!!!!! Why couldn’t I pick out my own car,” said Shanica in the post on Sept. 21. Six days later, Eddie accused his wife of cheating on him in a series of Facebook posts.

“My wife Shanica Harris cheating on the train now she playing sick on the job,” said he said in the post.

In an interview with Local 10, Shanica’s sister, Thomasina Goddard, said, “He Barricaded himself in the house and kept my sister at blood death, with my grandniece and grandnephew in the house”. She added that her sister was the “sweetest girl you would’ve known” and that she worked very hard for her family and kids.

According to reports, this is the second misfortune for the Harris family as they lost Eddie Harris Jr. to gun violence in 2016. Eddie Harris Jr. was reportedly shot dead while walking on the street. An unidentified person pulled up alongside, got out of the car and shot him several times before driving away.
