Mariah Carey heralded the Christmas festivities at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with her signature track but fans were left unimpressed.

Wearing a pink gown with a tiara on her head, Carey held an umbrella and sang her iconic tune "All I Want For Christmas" as dancers grooved to the song.

However, she received backlash on social media after people noticed she was lip syncing to her track and was standing still during the performance.

"I love the lack of energy Mariah Carey gives in her performances. It's the one thing we can all count on," one person tweeted. "Mariah Carey is getting millions right now to just stand there with her umbrella and honestly, I'm not mad. Mad respect," sports journalist Ian Hest wrote.

Another person commented, "Mariah Carey getting paid to just stand there at the thanksgiving parade and not even pretend to be actually singing to the backing track lmfao queen behavior."

"Why did she even bother to hold a microphone," another user asked.

One of Carey's fans defended the singer and referred to an old tweet from John Legend explaining the need to lip sync at the event. The tweet read, "Fun Fact. We all have to lip-sync on this parade because the floats don't have the capacity to handle the sound requirements to for a live performance."

Carey was previously blasted for her disastrous New Year's Eve performance in 2016, where she exited the stage in the middle of her performance due to audio errors and technical issues. During the show, Carey lip synced to "Auld Lang Syne" but it was not in sync with the audio. The hitmaker also complained about her ear monitors, which she said were not working properly.

The "Vision of Love" singer then took to Twitter and posted an audio recording explaining what happened on the New Year's Eve show.

"It's a shame that we were put into the hands of a production team with technical issues who chose to capitalize on circumstances beyond our control," she said.

"Listen, guys, they foiled me," Carey added. "Thus it turned into an opportunity to humiliate me and all those who were excited to ring in the New Year with me. I can't deny that my feelings were hurt."
