Mariah Carey’s Twitter account was hacked by an unnamed user on New Year’s Eve and posted numerous ill-suited tweets that made everyone believe that her social media account was compromised.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, a spokesperson from the micro-blogging site has confirmed that the account was hacked and they immediately started to take appropriate steps as soon as the organization was made aware of the situation.

The media outlet also reported that some of the tweets were directed towards rapper Eminem and his daughter. The first tweet that was posted after the hack stated that Eminem has a little “p—s” while another tweet had the name of Chuckling Squad.

“As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we locked the compromised account and are currently investigating the situation,” a Twitter spokesperson said. All the tweets have now been deleted from Carey's account.

Chuckling Squad is a group of hackers known for targeting YouTubers and hacking their accounts. The group got really active this year and hacked the accounts of famous YouTubers like Amanda Cerny and Shane Dawson. In August, the group even managed to get inside the account of Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.

A lot of racial slurs and inappropriate stuff was tweeted out before the organization could secure his account.

The infamous group has also claimed the responsibility for hacking accounts of other celebrities, including that of “Carrie” star Chloe Grace Moretz.
