The second round of the 2015 Masters is already underway Friday morning at Augusta, and early leader Jordan Spieth hopes to capitalize on an impressive 8-under 64 opening round.

The 21-year-old Spieth fired off nine birdies throughout the first round, but history is not on his side, with the early leader usually bumped off by the end of the weekend. Spieth will start his next round at 9:57 a.m. ET with Henrk Stenson and Billy Horschel.

A slew of veterans sit three strokes back of Spieth in a tie for second, with American Charley Hoffman, England’s Justin Rose, South Africa’s Ernie Els and Australia’s Jason Day all at five-under.

Tiger Woods showed off an improved short game, but struggled with his drives throughout his first round to wind up in a tie for 41st place at one-over. It was a long five-hour round for Woods, but if he can clean up his early work on the fairway a chance at making the cut is there.

Woods will begin his second round much earlier at 10:30 a.m., with Jamie Donaldson and Jimmy Walker.
