  • Matt Reeves shared the first look at Robert Pattinson donning the iconic Batsuit
  • The camera test was uploaded by the filmmaker on Vimeo
  • The movie is slated to hit theaters on June 25, 2021

Batman fans, rejoice! Matt Reeves has shared the highly-anticipated first look at Robert Pattinson’s “The Batman” by uploading a short clip on social media. Taking it to Vimeo, the filmmaker shared a gritty camera test that Pattinson did.

The most exciting thing about the video is that it is the first time viewers got to see the “Lighthouse” star donning the iconic costume. The video, set to haunting background music by composer Michael Giacchino, slowly unveils the Bat logo on the front of the Batsuit before closing in on Pattinson’s face as he tries to flex his shoulders.

The 56-second clip ends with Pattinson looking toward the camera as he gives a much better look to the mask that has been covering his face. The video was shot by cinematographer Greg Frasier.

Fraser is known for his work in movies like “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Rogue One,” “Lion”, and “Vice.” He got nominated for an Academy Award for his stellar work in 2016’s “Lion.”

The “Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes” helmer has taken the same route as Todd Phillips. Phillips also shared a first look at Joaquin Phoenix as “Joker” prior the movie’s release.

Pattinson will be the first actor to don the cape after Ben Affleck. Affleck was the last actor to wear the iconic Batsuit for the big screen in 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice” and 2017’s “Justice League.”

Recently, the actor jokingly apologized for his comments about the Dark Knight. Last year, while appearing on the “Today” show, the 33-year-old actor shared that the Caped Crusader is not really a superhero because he does not have any “magical” powers.

His remarks created a stir among DC fans and forced him to address the controversy once again in a candid way. Speaking in an interview, Pattinson noted that he was not “educated” about that particular subject and he feels really sorry that people got angry about it.

“I was not educated about the subject. People got very angry about it. It is bizarre. I still cannot understand the argument. Okay, he is a superhero, I am sorry! The next headline: ‘Pattinson retracts: Batman is, in fact, a superhero. He takes it back,’” Pattinson said at that time.

Zoe Kravitz will be portraying the character of Catwoman while it was recently confirmed that Andy Serkis will be playing Alfred Pennyworth in the highly-anticipated movie. On the other hand, Paul Dano is all set to become The Riddler. Colin Farrell will be playing the role of Penguin.

The first in the trilogy, “The Batman” is scheduled to hit cinemas on June 25, 2021.
