Matt Smith, who plays Loxias Crown (a.k.a Milo) in "Morbius," has shared his honest thoughts about the Marvel movie's failure and the negative comments it has received.

The 39-year-old actor believes the movie "was thrown under the bus," and there is nothing one can do about it. He also thinks that at the end of the day, it's just a movie, and they are not lifesavers.

"Yeah, it was thrown under the bus," Smith told Rolling Stone U.K. in an interview published on Thursday. "But you just have to roll with it. What else are you gonna do?"

"It's a film, at the end of the day, we're not saving lives," he added. "For whatever reason, it didn't quite work out and … It is what it is."

"Morbius" had its theatrical release on April 1. The movie, which was created with a budget of $75 million, earned $74 million at the domestic box office and made $163 million worldwide.

The film was not a disaster at the box office, but Marvel fans were very disappointed with it. In fact, many of them trolled the movie by posting memes about it. Some of them even compared "Morbius" to "Venom," another superhero movie, and pointed out that the action scenes featured in the former are pretty average.

It can be recalled that Sony first set the release of "Morbius" for Jan. 28. However, the entertainment company decided to rework it and move its premiere to April 1, considering the success of "Spider-Man: No Way Home."

"Morbius" revolves around biochemist Michael Morbius (played by Jared Leto), who struggles to find a cure for his rare blood disease. He takes part in a human experiment, which eventually goes wrong and turns him into a vampire.

The movie, which was helmed by director Daniel Espinosa, also stars Michael Keaton, Jared Harris, Tyrese Gibson and Al Madrigal.

Smith will be next seen in the highly anticipated series "House of the Dragon," where he portrays Prince Daemon Targaryen. The series is a prequel of "Game of Thrones" and is set 300 years before the events in the popular HBO series.
