Meghan Markle has been criticized for cutting her dad off and not giving him a call since after the royal wedding.

Ingrid Seward, a royal author for the Daily Mail, is urging the Duchess of Sussex to just give her dad a call once and for all. Seward said that royal fans were drawn to Markle when she joined the royal family, but what she did to Thomas Markle Sr. threatened to undo all the work she’s done since May 19.

“But who would not have sympathy with a father of the bride who has not even met his new royal son-in-law? It is not a matter of simple duty that his daughter get in touch? The emotional legacy of Diana is something that her sons, William and Harry, have been at pains in honor, both in their public statements and in their choice of charity to support,” Seward wrote.

Seward also said that Markle was not told by the members of the royal family to cut ties with Thomas. This means that this decision was all her.

“The Queen does not intervene in family matters – although she might wish she had done when it came to the breakdown of her son’s marriage to Diana – so it is up to Meghan how she chooses to deal with her relatives. In other words, the new Duchess of Sussex is free to repair the damage, and I cannot be alone in hoping she will do so,” Seward wrote.

Seward is also wondering why Markle doesn’t want to be associated with her dad. It could be because the former actress is embarrassed by the former lighting director. And even though Markle is not solely to be blamed for the fallout, she not visiting Thomas before her wedding to Prince Harry was a questionable move.

“Only she can sort out this escalating problem – and she would be wise to do so,” Seward concluded.
