Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has given birth to a boy after going into labor early Monday.

On Instagram, she and Prince Harry shared on their Instagram account, "We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz."

Earlier Monday morning, The Associated Press sent a tweet stating, "BREAKING: Buckingham Palace says Prince Harry's wife Meghan has gone into labor with their first child."

It was anticipated that Markle would have their first child any day now, and the Buckingham Palace even stated on May 3 that Prince Harry's scheduled visit to Amsterdam on Wednesday would be postponed.

Last month, Kensington Palace revealed that Markle, 37, and Prince Harry, 34, would be keeping their birthing plans a secret, disappointing millions who are fascinated by their romance.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby," the palace said in a statement.

They continued, "Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family."
