Although Meghan Markle’s and Prince Harry’s move to the US will open doors to explore new opportunities, the Duchess may have to close the door on her friendship with longtime friend, Jessica Mulroney.

Meghan reportedly began to question her friendship with Mulroney after a black lifestyle blogger, Sasha Exeter, called out the Canadian stylist for using her white privilege to threaten her career. Although she publicly apologized, Exeter revealed that Mulroney privately reached out to her to threaten her with a lawsuit.

Sources close to Meghan told the Daily Mail that the former actress doesn’t think it would be wise for her to continue her friendship with Mulroney.

Meghan is absolutely mortified that she’s been dragged into this complete mess. She said Jessica is in no way a racist, but the way she handled the situation (with the fashion influencer) was tone-deaf and heartbreaking,” the insider told the outlet.

In a now-deleted comment under Exeter’s post, Mulroney referenced her friendship with the Duchess of Sussex.

“I am unequivocally sorry for not doing that with you and for any hurt I’ve caused. As I told you privately, I have lived a very public and personal experience with my closest friend where race was front and center,” she wrote.

“It was deeply educational. I learned a lot from that. I promise to continue to learn and listen on how I can use my privilege to elevate and support black voices.’”

Those close to the former “Suits” star claimed that despite Mulroney’s apology, the scandal may mark the “beginning of the end of their friendship.”

Meghan said friends reflect friends and because of what’s at stake she can no longer be associated with Jessica, at least not in public,” the insider said.

“She has to do what she has to do in order to preserve her dignity, and her own reputation,” the source added.

Despite the comments from sources, the state of Meghan’s friendship with Mulroney is unclear.
