Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were close to having a mid-air crash during their trip to Luton.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were only 10 feet away from an air crash while flying over Britain due to an illegal drone, Express reported. The incident happened while they were cruising at 200 mph and 4,000 ft above Luton airport.

The drone flew four times than the allowed height and was too close for comfort that it was among the closest near-miss recorded in the U.K. airspace. The 14-seat Bombardier jet was owned by NetJets, a rental company. The aircraft often carries showbiz celebrities and royalty including the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

It reportedly happened on Aug. 26 and the names of the passengers were not disclosed. However, Prince Harry and Markle were reportedly holidaying in Nice that week with their son Archie and had traveled to the south of France via NetJets.

A flying expert revealed that if the drone shattered the cockpit windscreen, it could have killed the crew.

“The damage could have been really serious. If a drone hit the windshield it could kill or incapacitate at least one of the flight crew,” former BA pilot Terry Tozer said.

“It could also be ingested into an engine with a similar outcome to a bird strike. These types of incidents are going to be an increasing problem. It’s a real concern for pilots.”

He added that there are already stricter regulations about these scenarios, but there are always people who don’t care about the rules. He added that it is very challenging to control drones.

At present, Prince Harry and Markle are still enjoying their six-week break. The couple is reportedly in Los Angeles with Archie. The family is even extending their break and will be celebrating Christmas there with Markle’s mom Doria Ragland.

Meanwhile, Markle is reportedly still in “work mode.” The duchess is very busy because she is determined to launch the Sussex Royal Foundation on New Year’s Day.
