  • Meghan Markle and Harry "privately congratulated" William and Kate Middleton on their 10th wedding anniversary
  • Royal author Lady Colin Campbell laughed off the report, calling it a "setup"
  • She claimed Prince William is still furious with Markle for attacking his wife during their interview with Oprah Winfrey

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly sent a private message to Prince William and Kate Middleton congratulating them on their 10th wedding anniversary last week, but a royal author has branded this a "setup."

Multiple outlets, including People and The Daily Beast, reported Thursday that Prince Harry and Markle had "privately congratulated" the Cambridges on their marriage milestone, which a spokesperson for the Sussexes also confirmed.

In a new video on her official YouTube channel, Lady Colin Campbell, author of "Meghan and Harry: The Real Story," laughed off the reports, commenting that it was "hysterically funny" that their private well-wishes made it into the public sphere.

"My information is that this is a total setup," the royal biographer claimed in the video. "That nobody is pleased of fooled by the supposed good wishes."

Campbell further claimed that the Duke of Cambridge is still furious over the many allegations Markle made against the royal family. The "Diana in Private" author also alleged that the future king is not pleased with how Markle subtly attacked his wife in her and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey in March.

"That in fact, Prince William cannot abide by his sister-in-law. My understanding is that he regards her as lower than the lowest form of pond life," Campbell claimed. "And that he is absolutely spitting bricks. Not only about the treacherous way in which she invented all sorts of slurs, slanders and misrememberances to attack the Royal Family unfairly and untruthfully. But also to attack his wife."

During their CBS sit-down, Markle denied the reports claiming she made Middleton cry days before her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018. Instead, she said, “The reverse happened.” She also confirmed that it happened during a bridesmaid’s fitting.

According to Markle, Middleton did something that upset her and drove her to tears, but she emphasized that the Duchess of Cambridge is a “good person” and that she had already forgiven her after the future queen consort apologized and sent her flowers and a note.

Campbell claimed Prince William considered Markle’s "attack" on his wife "unforgivable" for two reasons — "that it wasn’t fair and that she couldn’t defend herself."

Twitter users wanted to know Middleton’s side of the story after Markle’s revelations. However, just like in the past years, the Duchess of Cambridge has not spoken to the press to address the issue, strictly adhering to the royal family’s "never complain, never explain" mantra.

Meanwhile, another royal expert, Phil Dampier, said that Prince Harry and Markle's anniversary message being leaked to the press feels "manipulated and contrived."

"The Queen and Prince Charles made their messages of congratulations to William and Kate on their tenth anniversary in public so why didn’t Harry and Meghan?" said the author of "Royally Suited: Harry and Meghan In Their Own Words," News.com.au reported.

Dampier continued, "Instead they relied on their spokespeople leaking out the fact they sent a message, making it look manipulated and contrived."
