  • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's first gig at JP Morgan was a PR disaster
  • The British public would react differently if it were Prince Charles who showed up at the JP Morgan event
  • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were lambasted for excessive security

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s JP Morgan attendance was considered a “PR disaster.”

Last month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they were stepping back as full-time working royals. Prince Harry and Markle also said that they will work to be financially independent from now on.

According to Express, they just landed their first gig by appearing at a JP Morgan event. They were reportedly paid $975,000 and they accepted the cash, which many deemed as something not appropriate.

According to panelist Bobby Friction, on a PR level, if it was Prince Charles who showed up at the event, the British public would not criticize him because for them, he is working for the royal family. In addition, the Prince of Wales had a lot of experience and he is a “learned man.”

“Prince Charles has had a lot of experience, ‘let him do that’,” Friction added. “I totally understand what you mean about it being a slight PR disaster for them. It’s the first gig that they’re doing but they wanted to do this so let them.”

Dawn Neesom said that she would still criticize it if it were Prince Charles who showed up because the royal would have flown there in a private jet just like Prince Harry and Markle. Also, she understood that the Sussexes have to earn money but not with JP Morgan.

“Of course they did. They got over a million dollars for it. I get that they need to make their own money, I have absolutely no problem with that. But JP Morgan are really the wrong people to be getting into bed with,” she said.

JP Morgan has reportedly spent around $196,000 on firms that carry out fracking, Arctic oil and gas exploration, as well as fossil fuel endeavors that are against what Prince Harry and Markle are campaigning for. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex previously said that fossil fuel emissions were jeopardizing the Earth.

In related news, Prince Harry and Markle were lambasted again due to their “excessive” security. Previous reports claimed that the couple has 15 protection officers and this did not sit well with their critics because they are no longer working royals. One even pointed out that not many are interested in them anymore.
