  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would have to pay a huge sum for security
  • Their son, Archie is a real threat and needs 24-hour security
  • Queen Elizabeth could help the royal couple with their security expenses

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son, Archie, could be in grave danger in Canada.

Matt Fiddes, a celebrity adviser and self-defense expert, told New Idea that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could be looking at least 10 security staff, and their cars need to be bullet-proof. The royal couple’s 10-month-old son is also under a real threat.

“The issue for them is more like a kidnap and ransom attempt. Like with Michael’s [Jackson] kids, they had their own security team and bodyguards,” he told New Idea.

Fiddes also shared a rough estimate of the cost for security that Prince Harry and Markle would have to shoulder and said that they would have to pay $13 to $19 million per year. But one of the biggest questions is who will pay for the cost of security now that the royal couple is no longer considered as working members of the royal family.

The expert said that he thinks Queen Elizabeth would continue to shoulder the cost of the Sussex family’s security until Prince Harry and Markle build up their income. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also made it clear that they want to be financially independent of the royal family.

Some royal critics might think that Prince Harry and Markle shouldn’t be entitled to security paid for by the Queen, but Fiddes disagreed.

“Harry was born into royalty; he can’t help it. He didn’t try to become a star. So, I think the UK needs to keep him safe. After what happened to Diana… had she had her royal protection, she would still be alive,” he said.

Prince Harry and Markle stepped out in public last when they returned to Canada after visiting the United States. People reported that the royal couple grew much closer to each other after their bombshell exit.

A source close to the Sussexes also revealed that Prince Harry and Markle call each other “H” and “M,” and Archie remains to be their top priority.
