Meghan Markle’s tiara on her wedding day was more expensive than Kate Middleton’s Cartier Halo headpiece.

The Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex are often compared. This time, the tiaras they wore on their big day were examined and a gemologist said that Markle’s headpiece costs more.

Middleton walked down the aisle wearing a Cartier Halo tiara. She looked perfect in it with her Alexander McQueen wedding dress by Sarah Burton that featured lace sleeves, fitted bodice and a large full skirt.

According to Deborah Papas, jewelry expert, Middleton’s tiara came with a hefty price tag.

“It is very hard to estimate the value but as a Cartier piece, I would estimate it to be worth approximately £750,000 ($936,000) to £1,250,000 ($1,560, 276),” Papas told Express.

Markle also wore a tiara on her big day because it is a tradition among royal brides. The Duchess of Sussex picked the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau tiara. The headpiece complemented Markle’s Givenchy wedding dress designed by Clare Waight Keller.

Just like Middleton’s tiara, Markle’s headpiece was expensive. In fact, it costs more.

“It is hard to put a value on this little seen piece but could be worth up to £2 million ($2.5 million),” the expert said.

Middleton’s tiara was last seen at the National Gallery in Canberra, Australia as part of “Cartier: The Exhibition.” It stayed there until July 22, 2018 and has never been seen again. Many believed that the item is already safely stored at the Queen’s vault along with the rest of Her Majesty’s collection.

The netizens have different speculations as to why Middleton picked the Cartier Halo tiara for her royal wedding. One said that it was what Queen Elizabeth II offered to her.

Meanwhile, many believed that it was just down to the duchess’ preference. They were convinced that Middleton picked it because she liked it.

“I think people choose to wear something because they feel good in it and they think they look good in it and generally want to impress. Tiara or tennis shoes, the reasons are the same,” one netizen wrote.
