Some women may happily sport Michael Kors branded merchandise while others won’t, but now, some are debating whether or not the designer can qualify as high-end or luxury when it comes at a slightly more affordable price tag than other comparable brands.

The debate appeared to ensue as women began posting photos of Michael Kors products—specifically bags—to social media, which led to a critique from one woman who said that those who felt they were spoiled after getting their new bags actually weren’t because the bags weren’t what others may believe they are when it comes to the designs being higher-end.

However, some quickly took offense to the idea that Michael Kors wasn’t high-end, noting that the brand’s namesake owns the luxury brand Versace—and also wondering if popularity for the brand among Black people played in role in the negative opinions.

There was also criticism that there was such negativity over the Kors brand when there were others that were considered lower quality which had more popularity.

Others found it ironic that there was so much concern over the issue when bigger problems were looming in the United States.

Some simply revealed that it didn’t bother them what other people thought of the brand because they were going to continue wearing and using whatever products they liked—regardless of the brand name attached to it.

The Michael Kors brand carries numerous items including handbags and wallets, shoes, apparel, jewelry and watches. Prices range from items under $100 to a few $100, though a few items do retail at significantly larger price points. Among those is a Dakota Crocodile Flip-Flop for $2,000.00, Men’s Wool and Cotton Shearling-Lined Coat for $3,990.00 and a Bancroft Large Calf Leather and Snakeskin Satchel for $4,500.00.
