  • Michelle Obama became emotional when marriage equality was passed

Michelle Obama previously detailed a touching moment that she shared with her eldest daughter, Malia.

During her appearance on the “Ellen Show,” the ex-FLOTUS revealed that she and her family were at the White House when marriage equality was passed.

While the Obamas were having dinner, they were listening to the news that confirmed that there was a celebration happening outside the Oval Office. Thousands of people gathered outside the White House, and they were crying because they were so pleased with the decision.

Michelle told her staff that she wants to take part in the gathering, but due to security concerns, Barack and their daughter, Sasha, convinced her not to go out. However, this didn’t stop the ex-FLOTUS from celebrating with thousands of people.

The former first lady of the United States asked her eldest daughter, Malia, if she could accompany her to the gathering, and she said yes.

“It took 15 minutes to get outside and we stood along with all the cheering crowd. Off to the side, mind you, so no one would see us, with security surrounding us. And we tried to have our tender mother-daughter moment. But we just took it in. I held her tight and my feeling was, we are moving forward,” she said.

Meanwhile, Michelle is very close to her two daughters. And she made it a point to instill in them wonderful values. During a previous interview, the ex-FLOTUS said that she has learned how important it is to prioritize herself and her children.

“When you have children, you have to be fiercely organized to get anything done. I learned that if I don’t put myself up on the priority list, somehow my kids will eventually get knocked down on that list. Our health is the thing that will keep us going. It’s something that we cannot afford to ignore,” she said.

Michelle also said that she and Barack do not treat their daughters too preciously because of what they experienced because their father was the former president.
