U.S. President Barack Obama turned 54 Tuesday. The first lady, Michelle Obama, took to Twitter to wish her husband a happy birthday, posting a throwback picture of the 2013 Inaugural Ball. The picture was also shared on Michelle's official Instagram.

“Happy birthday to a loving husband, wonderful father and my favorite dance partner. 54 looks good on you, @POTUS! –mo,” she captioned the photograph. In the throwback picture, it is the first lady who steals the show from her husband. Michelle is pictured wearing a red dress by Jason Wu and beaming at her husband in the picture, People reported.

The couple hit the dance floor at the 2013 Inaugural Ball in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 21, 2013. The president and Michelle swayed along to the music as Jennifer Hudson serenaded the first couple with an Al Green classic. Michelle wowed in a gorgeous, custom-made Jason Wu gown. The red, velvet gown had chiffon overlay.

Michelle’s toned arms and shoulders were on display in the confection. The dress was cinched at her waist, showing off her svelte figure. The back of the dress was very low-cut and showed some skin.

She accessorized with a pair of Jimmy Choo pumps and a custom Kimberly McDonald diamond ring. She also added a sparkling set of Forevermark diamond bangles to her show-stopping ensemble.

The first lady’s dress choice got the fashion critics talking. Many fashion editors and critics thought that, like in 2009, she would use the occasion to launch an unknown designer. After Michelle chose Wu once again, the pundits instead turned the conversation to Wu’s status as a rising powerhouse.

In fact, Michelle put Wu on the map at the 2009 Inauguration, when she wore his one-shoulder white gown. The designer was just 26-years-old then.
