Mickey and the Pemberton kids look for a new place to stay in Season 2, episode 1 of “The Mick.”

According to the synopsis for the season premiere of the Fox series, Mickey (Kaitlin Olson), Sabrina (Sofia Black-D’Elia), Chip (Thomas Barbusca) and Ben (Jack Stanton) are forced to downgrade from their temporary residence at a hotel after their financial advisor cuts them off due to excessive spending. As expected, Mickey and Sabrina don’t agree with the decision, so they come up with a plan that will allow them to continue their lavish lifestyle.

While the synopsis doesn’t reveal the outcome of Mickey and Sabrina’s plan, Carla Jimenez’s recent interview with TV Guide suggests that the duo’s plan to continue their excessive spending isn’t going to be successful.

“We’re just trying to survive this season,” Jimenez, who plays Alba on the show, said of what fans can expect from the family next season. “We’re trying to figure out what we need to do. We don’t know where the money’s going to come from.”

Elsewhere in episode 1, Jimmy (Scott MacArthur) teaches Chip that the tricks to living in a luxurious hotel can be simple.

As fans will remember, the Pemberton mansion as well as Mickey’s million dollars went up in flames at the end of the Season 1 finale. But instead of using their remaining money wisely, Mickey takes the kids — along with Alba and Jimmy — to a five-star hotel.

While the characters no longer have the mansion in Season 2, Olson assured viewers that next season will still be enjoyable to watch. “We’re tossing a bunch of stuff around. It’s gonna be fun,” Olson told KPTV.com last July. “I think they’re gonna bounce around and try to figure out where to live. [In the Season 1 finale,] Mickey finally gets a million dollars and then it just all burns up. So they’re right back where they started, but now they really have to come together because they don’t have the house to rely on.”

“The Mick” creator Dave Chernin said at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour last month that Season 2 will continue to explore the contrasting levels of privilege experienced by Mickey and the kids. “There are a lot of ups and downs this season,” Dave teased. “The show works so well when we juxtapose those two cultures.”

“The Mick” Season 2 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 9 p.m. EDT on Fox.
