The much-awaited Xbox Mini Fridge will come out this holiday season as Microsoft fulfills its promise after beating Skittles in the "Twitter Best of Tweets Brand Bracket" contest.

The software giant made an announcement regarding the launch after the E3 2021 showcase Sunday, Gizmodo reported.

Furthermore, the Xbox Official YouTube channel uploaded a one-minute video Monday. The short clip showcased an Xbox Velocity Cooling Architecture-powered mini cold storage that can hold up to 10 beverage cans.

The video was viewed more than one million times in less than 24 hours with almost six thousand people expressing their excitement in the comment section.

The story of the Xbox Series X mini-fridge dates back to the launch of a Twitter contest in search of the best brand on social media. During the final stage of the contest, Skittles and Xbox were left vying for the title.

In an April 2 Twitter update, Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft general manager of Xbox Games Marketing sought users' help to get the most number of votes to win the contest. Greenberg promised that if Twitter users will vote for them and help them to win the contest, the company will produce real Xbox Series X mini-fridges.

Meanwhile, Skittles promised to bring back the lime-flavored Skittles should they win the challenge. The contest ended up with 50.5% against 49.5% of the 341,731 votes in favor of Xbox.

That said, the idea behind the Xbox Series X Fridge was ignited by some Xbox fans after the launch of Xbox Series X in December 2019. They made several memes comparing the console to a mini-fridge and shared them on Twitter.

The rectangular-shaped, tall-built disk drive resembled a fridge door and it made the console look like a miniature fridge. After the Xbox Series X fridge memes floated one after the other, Microsoft trolled itself with their own version of the Xbox fridge, CNET reported.

In Oct. 2020, Microsoft created a 1:1 fridge replica of the Xbox Series X. The fridge weighed more than 400 pounds and stood six feet tall, The Verge reported.

Priced at $499, the software giant did not sell the device saying it was created as a giveaway prize. It was later awarded to a customer on Nov. 4 of the same year. Microsoft also delivered an Xbox Series X fridge to rapper Snoop Dogg, who's has been a loyal Xbox loyal customer for years.
