Mira Sorvino of "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion" fame, teased fans while hinting at a possible sequel to the 1997 cult comedy movie.

The 54-year-old actress said she is just hinting that they are getting "closer" to a sequel.

"So there's nothing official to report, but I can unofficially hint that we are closer than we've ever been to getting something to happen," she said Thursday while guesting on the talk show, "Today With Hoda & Jenna."

"Every other time I've appeared I would be like, 'Come on, please let's do something,' and now I'm like, 'Okay okay we're getting closer!' So, very excited, I can't say anything yet," she teased. "But something might be in the works."

A video was posted on the show's official Twitter page featuring Sorvino and captioned, "Is there a 'Romy and Michele's High School Reunion' reunion in the works?"

The popular movie is about two women who meet 10 years after graduation for their high school reunion.

Romy was played by Sorvino while Michele's character was portrayed by "Friends" star Lisa Kudrow. Romy and Michele tried to impress their classmates by fabricating a story of how their lives have been after high school with comedic results.

The movie was directed by David Mirkin and also stars Janeane Garofalo, Alan Cumming, Justin Theroux, Vincent Ventresca, Julia Campbell and Camryn Manheim.

As for Sorvino's upcoming projects, she will be next seen in an action biography drama, "Sound of Freedom," where she will play a character named, Katherine Ballard. She will also be part of another biographical feature based on Ferruccio Lamborghini's life, titled "Lamborghini."

Sorvino's other project would be a comedy movie titled, "Dodie & Cheryl Get Hitched," which is currently in pre-production.

As for her personal life, Sorvino has been married to fellow actor Christopher Backus since 2004. The couple shares four kids -- Mattea, 17, Johnny, 16, Holden, 13 and Lucia, 10.

Kudrow, on the other hand, is busy with a still-untitled Netflix TV series while also serving as the narrator for a TV movie titled, "Bright Futures."

The 58-year-old actress is currently filming a horror-comedy movie, "The Parenting," directed by Craig Johnson.
