On Jan. 4, 2019, Savannah Spurlock disappeared after leaving The Other Bar in Lexington, Kentucky. The mother of four was last seen on surveillance footage leaving the establishment with several men, including David Sparks, which prompted a six-week long investigation into her whereabouts.

Her body was ultimately recovered after a tip was called in about a "foul odor" coming from a piece of rural property belonging to Sparks' parents. She was eventually found in "an unnatural position beneath the ground." Police would later reveal that she had been covered with trash bags and a rug from Sparks' apartment.

Following the discovery, he was arrested on June 11 and charged with tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse. He would also go on to be formally charged with her murder by a Garrard County grand jury on Aug. 28.

As reported by WDRB, the Commonwealth asked for a 60-day continuance at the pre-trial hearing, which was granted by the presiding judge. His next planned court date at this time will take place in March. According to WKYT, Sparks was not in court on Friday morning.

This marked the second time that his hearing was pushed back, as it was intitially scheduled for Nov. 1, but was delayed 60 days due to the defense stating that they did not feel as though they had enough time to review the evidence.
