A man was pursued and arrested by officers after stealing a pickup truck containing a sleeping passenger and a goat and drove with them across three states.

Brandon Kirby, 40, carjacked the parked pickup truck of two men outside an adult video store in Carthage, Missouri.

The driver of the pickup truck went inside the store and left a sleeping passenger inside the vehicle.

According to the arrest report, the sleeping victim woke up to Kirby wearing a mask, driving the truck and was pointing a gun to his head, KOTV reported.

During the 130-mile drive across Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma, Kirby reportedly took methamphetamines, pistol whipped the victim and continually threatened him with the gun.

The victim said that he was held against his will and was only able to call 911 when Kirby let him and a goat out of the truck in rural Creek County.

The Creek County Sheriff’s Office, Sand Springs Police and Oklahoma Highway Patrol were all involved in the pursuit.

Sand Springs Police tried to apprehend the truck but Kirby continued to drive which led to the County Creek Deputy to flatten the tires with stop sticks after OnStar was able to slow it down to 15 mph.

Kirby continued to drive despite the flat tires so OHP did a Tactical Vehicle Intervention maneuver which landed the truck in a ditch at 161st West Avenue and Wekiwa, effectively ending the car chase.

Kirby attempted to escape and got out of the car which prompted a short pursuit on foot where Kirby dropped his mask and his gun.

The suspect was found trying to hide behind some tall grasses next to a drainage ditch along Highway 412.

Police records show that Kirby was wanted in Osage County for second degree burglary, was recently released from prison and has several convictions out of Creek, Osage and Okmulgee counties.
