Sarah Hyland does not ignore false reports about herself. When a tabloid published a story claiming she had undergone plastic surgery, the “Modern Family” actress made it clear that the report is false.

“I have had the worst medical year of my life and to create an entire article surrounding the question of if I’ve had plastic surgery is the MOST insulting thing,” she wrote in a note on Twitter. “Adding insult to injury. You have NO IDEA what I have been through. And I have somewhat addressed these rumors already. People like you are the reason why young girls feel the need to alter their face. MY face has been altered by LIFE SAVING medication. Take your ‘journalism’ and use it for some good. FOR ONCE.”

Life and Style Magazine had shared a report that apparently accused Hyland have having work done. However, after her comments slamming the report, the article was edited and no longer speculated about if Hyland had gone under the knife. The 26-year-old still isn’t happy, though. She wants the article removed entirely.

Hyland mocked the rumors with some funny photos and videos. She posted a selfie wearing a sheet mask and glasses. She joked that she “got some work done.”

The starlet went on to post a couple videos mocking the magazine for writing the false story. In a third video, she took off the face mask and showed off her natural face.

“You want a story? Here’s me with no make up, post-face mask. See any plastic surgery here? Double chin action. I’ve always had big eyes,” she said. She noted that she’d been “a little bit salty” tonight, but she just had to take the opportunity to deliver a sassy clapback.

Hyland has addressed her changing body before. She has a condition called kidney dysplasia, which forced her to get a kidney transplant in 2012. She’s still having medical issues, though she has chosen to keep the details private. She explained that her health issues were to blame for her weight loss last spring.

“I haven’t had the greatest year,” she wrote in an extended tweet. “Maybe one day I’ll talk about it, but for now, I’d like my privacy. I will say that this year has brought a lot of changes and with that, physical changes. I have been told that I can’t work out, which, for me, is very upsetting. I am an activist for activity (and for eating junk food in bed, but it’s all about balance right?). I love to be outdoors. I love to be STRONG (I’ll be using that word a lot). Strength is everything. … But considering I’ve basically been on bed rest for the past few months, I’ve lost a lot of muscle mass. My circumstances have put me in a place where I’m not in control of what my body looks like, so I strive to be as healthy as possible, as everyone should.”

Hyland felt the need to address her weight in May after a photo resulted in rumors of anorexia. She wanted to make sure young girls knew that this wasn’t the weight she was trying to be. She also revealed that she was on the steroid Prednisone, which makes her face swell.

The actress is staying positive, though. “I’m a 26-year-old woman who goes through more than you can even imagine on a daily basis,” Hyland wrote. “But I work hard. I love hard. And I got to where I am because I am STRONG and didn’t give up.”
