NetherRealm Studios recently revealed Cetrion as a new character joining the “Mortal Kombat 11” roster in an exclusive trailer from Gameinformer. As an Elder God, her powers involve manipulation of earth, plant life, fire, and water as seen in her trailer. Here’s what we know about this new character.

As seen in the trailer published on Gameinformer, new character Cetrion is an Elder God similar to Raiden and Shinnok. Her powers allow her to use floating rocks, shoot fire beams, quickly consure binding plants, and manipulate water to hurt her foes.

So far, her fatal blow showcases her whole arsenal of powers over the natural elements and her featured fatality shows her growing to a planetary size and obliterating her foes with a massive beam.

For now, we’ve yet to know her role in the story and if she’s going to be an ally. Since she’s an Elder God, she may be more familiar with other godly characters in the story such as Raiden, Shinnok, and Chronica as they govern a much higher power than the rest of the fighters.

Due to her status, most of her interactions could be for further worldbuilding for the "Mortal Kombat" series rather than pushing the game's story forward. Based on her looks, Cetrion doesn’t look like a villain but seems to be more of a neutral character in the story.

In the “Mortal Kombat 11” story, Chronica is planning to put a stop to Raiden’s plans after he goes off course off what time permits him. In order to fight him, Chronica has summoned previous versions of the Mortal Kombat’s cast in her fight against Raiden. The presence of evil forces and the heroes’ strained relationships with each other due to morally grey choices, the whole brawl got more crazy through the introduction of time travel into the mix. So far, the full story of “Mortal Kombat 11” has only been teased through trailers and some fighters didn’t exactly join Chronica’s side in fighting Raiden.

"Mortal Kombat 11" is slated for release this coming April 23. Players who’ve preordered the game would receive Shao Kahn as a fighter. Another returning DLC character is the first "Mortal Kombat" villain, Shang Tsung but his inclusion is yet to be known if he’s playable as early as release or a few weeks late.
