“Mystery Science Theater 3000” will not be getting a third season on Netflix, according to host Jonah Ray. He revealed on Twitter on Tuesday that the revival series has been canceled after two seasons on the platform.

“So, Netflix decided to not do another season of MST3K," Ray told fans. "We are off to Get Down in Lilyhammer while the OA helps us take it One Day At A Time. We will be in group therapy with Tuca & Bertie, Jessica Jones, & Lady Dynamite. The sessions will be run by Gypsy (w/ Naomi Watts).”

Ray added that he was proud of all the work that was done on the revival and thanked creator Joel Hodgson and fans of the show for the opportunity. “So, Thank you, Joel, & especially all the MSTies who embraced me as a mug in a (yellow) jumpsuit. I know it wasn’t easy accepting a new guy, so I appreciate the warmth,” he wrote.

The original 1988 series ran on Comedy Central for several seasons before getting picked up by Syfy. The show left the air in 1999 and was made into a film that was released in 1996.

The series followed Hodgson’s character, Joel Robinson, who gets trapped by two mad scientists on a satellite being forced to watch a bunch of B movies as part of the scientists’ plot for world domination. The show featured a number of robot companions named Tom Servo, Crow T. Robot, and Gypsy who offer their commentary on the movies they all end up watching.

Based on the original TV show, the reboot made its debut on Netflix in 2017 following a successful campaign on Kickstarter that raised $5.7 million. The series nabbed a 14-episode season on the streamer before getting renewed for another season consisting of six episodes, which dropped in 2018. The new series featured Felicia Day and Patton Oswalt as the scientists with Jonah Ray essaying the role of the human test subject.
