NASA has opened up registrations to social media users for a chance to watch the SpaceX Falcon 9 launch at Florida’s Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in July. According to NASA, only selected applicants will be allowed to watch the launch in person.

Dubbed as NASA Social, the registration event is the space agency’s attempt to reach a wider audience for its upcoming launch through social media. Those looking to register may do so by completing the NASA Social online form.

In order to be selected for the event, participants must first meet the various requirements set by NASA. According to a press release from the space agency, the registration is only open for U.S. citizens aged 18 years old and above.

The selected participants must have a prominent social media presence. NASA noted that in order to be selected, the participants must have accounts on multiple social media platforms and are capable of regularly producing high quality content using different multimedia elements.

In addition, the participants must be capable of reaching a wide audience and must have a history of producing highly visible content.

Registrations for NASA Social began on June 10. It is scheduled to end on June 16 at 11:59 pm EDT. Those who will be selected for the event will be notified via email on June 21. Those who will be waitlisted will be informed on June 28. According to NASA, only 50 social media users will be selected through the registration process.

The selected participants will have exclusive access to the event just like members of the news media. They are encouraged to use their social media presence to update their followers regarding the launch.

The upcoming launch is for a resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The mission, known as SpX-18, will feature the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. It will carry the company’s Dragon capsule, the commercial spacecraft designed to provide cargo supplies to the ISS.

The launch is scheduled to happen sometime in July. The official and exact date of the launch will be announced once NASA completes its Flight Readiness Review.
