“Nashville” fans weren’t exactly satisfied after its last episode of the series. With ABC canceling the show, the Season 4 finale was forced to serve as a series finale. The hour managed to wrap up most of the storylines, but the drama always loved going for a last-minute cliffhanger. This year, Juliette’s life was left hanging in the balance.

After everybody else appeared to be heading toward a happy ending, Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) ditched the Oscars to return to Nashville. She wanted to be with Avery (Jonathan Jackson) and their daughter. Avery was waiting at the airport for her when an employee there said Juliette’s private jet issued a distress call, and now the plane is missing. Juliette might be dead.

There was a happy ending filmed with Juliette and Avery that did not air, TVLine reported. It looks like there was a scene with the couple reuniting at the airport, but because Lionsgate Television is hoping another network will pick up the show, it went with the cliffhanger. However, “Nashville” hasn’t been picked up by a new network yet, so, at least for now, Juliette’s possible death is the official ending of the series.

Unsurprisingly, fans are pretty upset about that ending. They expressed their anger on Twitter:

Even though some viewers are upset, they’re joining the effort to bring “Nashville” back to the small screen for Season 5. Lionsgate is asking fans to tweet with the hashtag #BringBackNashville to give networks evidence that there is still an audience for the program.
