KEY POINTS

  • "Cyberpunk 2077" still has fans despite its major problems
  • Some players find ways to make it fun despite the issues
  • One such player created a way to let users operate the Basilisk tank anywhere in the game

While “Cyberpunk 2077” still has some issues even after the recent Patch 1.1 update, players continue to find ways to enjoy the game. One of these ways comes in the form of a mod that essentially lets users gain access to a very powerful vehicle that allows them to wreak havoc in Night City – much like how “Grand Theft Auto” players can do so in the Rockstar game.

The new mod “Call For Help – Basilisk” lets users use Panam Palmer’s tank, the Basilisk, anywhere in the game. The mod was created by a modder named McUsher, and it’s now available for download via NexusMods. It only works on the PC version of “Cyberpunk 2077” at the moment.

Originally, players will only be able to use the Basilisk tank in certain missions. And since the tank itself is a very powerful vehicle, the fact that it’s locked in some missions means that it’s rarely used and was meant for a limited number of purposes. The new mod changes all of that.

When installed, the mod lets users map the Basilisk to a key on their keyboards so they can summon it anytime they want, anywhere they need to use it. It’s like those “GTA” tank cheats that let users use a tank in the game.

Players can use the Basilisk’s weapons to attack and destroy targets. There’s the primary cannon, and there’s a secondary shot that fires several missiles that home in on certain targets once locked. It’s basically a lean, mean fighting machine that can send enemies and innocent civilians running away in fear.

The modder warns players that the first version of the mod may contain bugs. This is especially true since the Basilisk wasn’t originally intended to be used anywhere outside of the missions where it is made available. A certain user who tested the mod found one such bug.

According to the user, if the Basilisk is spawned while the player is being chased for committing a crime, police can simply board the tank and flatline the game. This problem, however, can be fixed by de-spawning the Basilisk, saving the game and then reloading it. The police AI should be reset back to normal after that.

IGN, which first reported about the mod, created a video showing how it works. Watch the video below.
