New 'LoL' Champion And Skin Labor Day Weekend Sale Revealed, Prices Cut On Fizz, More

Riot Games has announced the latest champion and skin sale for "League of Legends," the popular MOBA strategy game. The new sale will start today and run until Monday. Here's a rundown of the latest price cuts on champions:

Fizz the AP mage/fighter, now costs 487 RP. Maokai, the AP based tank, will run you 440 RP this weekend. Mordekaiser, the AP-based mage/fighter, is the most affordable of the three at 395 RP.

Of the champions on sale this weekend, Fizz is probably the best value overall due to his ability to both pursue weak enemy champions and escape dangerous situations using Urchin Strike. Fizz's ability to become virtually invulnerable using his Playful ability can also be invaluable when used right.

That's not to say that Maokai or Mordekaiser aren't worth buying. Maokai's durability and Twisted Advance ability add valuable crowd control to any "LoL" team that has him. Mordekaiser can be a terror, especially in teamfights where his Mace of Spaces and Siphon of Destruction spells can hit multiple enemy champions. Plus, we can't help but like a champion whose spell names reference songs by multiple heavy metal legends.

In case you didn't know; Iron Man is a Black Sabbath song. Mace of Spades is a reference to Ace of Spades by Motorhead. Creeping Death is a Metallica tune. Siphon of Destruction is a hat tip to Symphony of Destruction by Megadeth, while Children of the Grave is a Black Sabbath track. Kudos for the good taste, Riot Games.

Commando Galio, 260 RP

Pentakill Yorick, 487 RP

Rugged Garen, 375 RP

Of the three "LoL" skins on sale this weekend, we like Pentakill Yorick the best. Clearly, Pentakill Yorick is a tribute to Slash of Guns 'n' Roses fame, so kudos to Riot Games for tipping a top hat to one of the greatest guitarists ever. However, we have one major issue with Pentakill Yorick: his guitar.

Pentakill Yorick's guitar has three strings. Bass guitars typically have four strings, while electric guitars usually have six strings, so Pentakill Yorick's three string guitar throws us off and lessens his rock and roll credibility somewhat. Other than that though, we're fans of the skin.
