A photograph of a newborn baby with long, pointed nails went viral after it was shared on Facebook.

The social media post comprised photographs of a woman gripping a baby's hand, which had manicured nails. In one image, the child had pointed sharp talon-like nails, while in another, the infant's nail had been given a more rounded edge.

"I can do your babies nails...cheap rates," the photos were captioned.

Social media users, who were outraged after seeing the images, warned others of serious injuries that can happen to the baby during and after the process.

It appears the infant had a manicure with fake nails. While some users said the image may have been photoshopped, others raised concerns about the safety of the child.

"Baby nails are sharp enough as is, I can't imagine equipping my daughter with claws. Hard pass," one user wrote, while another said: "This is highly dangerous. Babies often times will poke themselves in the eyes or face and even without nails they'll leave scratch marks. This is straight-up stupid and will only harm the baby further."

"Baby nails are sharp enough as is, I can't imagine equipping my daughter with claws. Hard pass,” a third user said.

The image also went viral on Reddit, with many parents slamming the woman.

"I could understand painting a babies nails, but giving them fake ones? It’s too dangerous! They constantly are touching their faces, so it could really do damage to their eyes. It’s better to wait until they are a lot older," a user wrote on Reddit, according to LAD Bible.

Another user wrote: "Oh gosh this seems so dangerous for both the baby and anyone around them."

This is not the first time such an image sparked outrage online.

A photo of a newborn’s manicured nails, which was shared online in December, had sparked outrage on social media, with many people branding it as “trashy, “dangerous” and “horrifying.” “Baby nails are sharp enough as it is, those things would tear your face right up,” one user commented, while another said: “More importantly, THE BABIES face. An itchy eye could result in permanent blindness."
