“Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom” was supposed to launch November of this year, but Bandai Namco decided that it’s best to move the release of the game to January of 2018. Now that fans are counting the days leading to the game’s Jan. 19 release date however, the publisher is pushing back its launch once again.

On Tuesday, Level-5, the developing team behind “Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom,” revealed that the highly anticipated RPG won’t make it in time for its Jan. 19 release date. In a statement, Level-5 President and CEO Akihiro Hino explained that the team needs more time to further polish the game.

“As you all know LEVEL-5 is committed to delivering the highest levels of design and quality in each of our video game titles. The development of our latest project ‘Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom’ is coming along very well and we can’t wait to share this new adventure with you our fans. In an effort to constantly innovate and bring new experiences to players, we’ve also implemented new modes in ‘Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom’ including the new Skirmish and Kingdom Modes which will surly delight players,” Hino said, as quoted by Wccftech.

Hino then went on to reveal that they will need more time to realize their goals for their upcoming game. “However with innovation and new ideas come the need to ensure everything works together in a fun and cohesive package. This means we’ll need a bit more time to make sure the entire ‘Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom’ experience meets LEVEL-5 and Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc.’s high quality standards. So today I would like to ask for everyone’s patience as we move ‘Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom’s’ worldwide release date to 23rd March 2018 for the PlayStation 4 and PC.”

This is the second time that Bandai Namco is pushing back the release date of the game. The first time was back in July of this year. At the time, the Japanese publisher announced that instead of releasing “Ni No Kuni 2” in November, it has delayed the game’s release to January 2018.

Hino also published a video message back then to explain why they were delaying the game’s release. “We have decided that more development time is required in order to deliver the full ‘Ni no Kuni II’ experience to our fans. I deeply apologise to those who have been looking forward to the game’s release. Please rest assured, however, that we will continue to strive to provide a deep and satisfying single player experience that our fans can look forward to enjoying,” the Level-5 CEO said.

“Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom” is the sequel to PS3-exclusive “Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch” that was announced at the 2015 PSX and released in Japan in November 2011. The game was then released in the Western market by Bandai Namco in January 2013.

According to DSOGaming, “Ni No Kuni II: Kingdom Revenant” chronicles the story of a deposed king and his journey to build a kingdom and unite the whole world. Compared to its predecessor, the upcoming RPG features a new combat system for dynamic fights. Aside from the gripping story, fans should also watch out for the sequel because of its beautifully crafted world.
