A man in North Carolina was arrested after he was filmed hurling racial slurs at a grocery store employee.

The accused follows the employee around the store calling him the N-word. The other customers can be seen trying to stop the accused as he continued to yell at the employee. The incident took place on July 23.

Cahoon was taken into custody Tuesday, July 28, and charged with several offenses including ethnic intimidation. He was being held in the Cumberland Detention Center and his bond was fixed at $1,000.

Several witnesses spoke to CBS 17 and said the incident was "uncalled for."

"He was making the customers uncomfortable. I thought it was uncalled for, you know, like he was trying to start something and I don’t think it was right," Robert Keller said.

Another person, Lameil Johnson, said, "That ain’t cool especially now with what’s going on in the world. You gotta be more mindful and respectful towards each other."

Speaking about the accused’s arrest, another witness, Carie Melvin, said, "Well, he deserves it, that’s exactly what he needs. You can’t just go around saying things like that and bluntly. It’s wrong and it hurts people."

The incident comes days after a woman in California was caught on camera yelling racial slurs at an Asian-American postal worker.

Tyler Brumfield posted the video on Instagram and captioned it, "Karen calls usps worker a racial slur multiple times. Right here in Los Altos, CA. Racist women refers to an Asian women as not being from here amd then goes on to call her a multitude of racial slurs. Unacceptable."

In the video, a woman can be seen yelling at the employee and using a racial slur under her breathe.

"That's not acceptable. No, it's not. Totally not OK," witnesses can be heard saying in the video. The unidentified woman then walks out of the post office after using the slur again.
