In an unsusual event, an Oklahoma woman was hospatalized after a seven-month old Labrador puppy shot her in the thigh in a pickup truck stopped at a railroad crossing.

Tina Springer was in the car with Brent Parks and his puppy Molly, when they stopped at the crossing to let a train pass. In the vehicle was also a loaded 22-caliber handgun kept in the front seat’s console. As the train passed, Molly jumped onto the seat console, frightened by the passing train, causing the gun to fire, reported the Washington Post.

The 44-year-old woman could be heard complaining in pain when Parks called 911 to request an ambulance. She repeatedly said, “I don’t feel good” as per the call obtained by ABC News.

In the recordings, Parks was heard saying, “A gun went off….got her in the leg.” The operator asked, “She shot herself?”

“No, she didn’t do it herself,” Parks said. “Who shot her then?” enquired the confused operator.

“We had a dog in here, and he stepped on the gun,” answered Parks, said the report in the Post.

Parks informed them that she was “bleeding pretty bad” and they instructed him to create a makeshift tourniquet using his belt.

“This is the first time I’ve ever heard of a dog shooting a person,” Sgt. Robert Norton of the Enid police department told KOCO-TV. He added, “That is why it is important whenever you’re transporting firearms, make sure they’re in a secure location.”

Springer was taken to a hospital where she was treated and is expected to recover soon.
