“X-Men: Apocalypse” star Olivia Munn opens up about the difference between being a man and woman in Hollywood.

In an interview with Variety, Munn was asked about the difference between being a man and woman in the movie industry. “The Predator” star confirmed that there really is a difference based on her experiences.

“I used to think it was a silly question. But there is a difference, and I think people are trying to understand what the difference is,” Munn said.

“And to me at least the difference between being a woman and a man in any industry is that before I speak up, I immediately in my head think of three different ways to say what I’m going to say. And from what I’ve understood from talking to male colleagues, it doesn’t happen like that.”

Munn has worked with both female and male directors. She recently worked with Justine Bateman for the movie “Violet.” The actress was very pleased with her working experience with Bateman and even called the director one of her favorites. She then shared a very different experience when she was working with Bryan Singer for the 2016 movie “X-Men: Apocalypse.”

Months before the production for the superhero film started, there were two lawsuits alleging that Singer sexually abused underage boys. The accusations were dismissed, but it made Singer an epicurean figure in the entertainment industry with questionable work ethic.

On her part, Munn said that while filming, Singer walked off set and left them to fly to Los Angeles for about 10 days due to “thyroid issue.” He told the production to just continue filming without him. And so the crew, production staff, and talents were left without a director.

“I never thought any of it was normal, but I didn’t realize that other people also thought it wasn’t normal. And the other people who thought it wasn’t normal would be people at high levels, people who make decisions on whether to hire this person,” Munn said.

“I’m saying even before the #MeToo stuff was exposed — stuff that’s really horrendous and just nauseating to be around — there’s also just the bad behavior of people getting away with it.”

Singer’s publicist Howard Bragman said that Singer saw doctors in Montreal and came back to see doctors in Los Angeles. However, in his recollection, the director’s absence only affected two days of shooting.

Meanwhile, in another interview, Munn said she didn’t dream of getting married. In fact, she found the weddings she attended “boring.”

Munn is reportedly dating Tucker Roberts. She opened up about him in 2019 and said that she didn’t mean to publicize their relationship. They were photographed at an event and she wasn’t aware that the man was a Getty photographer.
