A new image released for the upcoming “Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker” shows Oscar Isaac’s character Poe Dameron piloting the legendary Millenium Falcon and has fans talking about what this could potentially mean.

The photo, which was shared exclusively by Entertainment Weekly shows Poe, Finn, and Chewbacca in the cockpit of the Millenium Falcon, facing something either highly dangerous or very shocking. Their faces light up red from some kind of light source. It isn’t clear whether this is some sort of internal emergency light, indicating they’re about to crash (a potential “goodbye” for the iconic spaceship), or something facing them outside the ship -- a red star or an even bigger ship.

Poe is in the pilot seat with the seemingly permanent Millenium Falcon co-pilot Chewbacca next to him and Finn, standing in the middle, trying to keep himself stable. The setup evokes the same imagery and excitement of the original Falcon crew--Han, Chewbacca, and Princess Leia, from “The Empire Strikes Back,” which came out in 1980.

In the previous two installments of “Star Wars,” fans got a pretty good glimpse at how good of a pilot Poe is. He’s not a Jedi or a Stormtrooper like the other two newbies Rey and Finn and essentially serves as the next generation’s Han Solo. This could potentially be serving as a “torch-passing,” from one legendary rebel general and pilot to the next.

Whether or not Poe is the next permanent owner of the Millenium Falcon will remain uncertain until the movie premieres on December 20, 2019.
